Some of you may already know this, but for those that don’t in addition to being a Technology and Integration Consultant for DPC Technology, I’m also a professional photographer. Over the past several years, I have kept a steady drip of clients coming from referrals and my Facebook page. Over the last year, the changes in Facebook’s algorithm have drastically reduced the reach of my posts to my target audience. That’s when I came to realize that it’s time to practice what I preach and get a website. Now, to be fair, I did have a website once. The company I used back then hosted it and gave me template to use and I did basically everything else. I had it for about 2 years and, because of my lack of attention to the important details like updating the site, writing blog posts, social media links, etc it was a total fail. I want something easy to use, with minimal intervention on my part.
Recently, while scrolling through my Facebook feed, I noticed an ad for a website developer called MoPro. For once, I decided to go ahead and click on it. I filled out the contact form with skepticism, and my spam collecting email addy, as I do most ads on Facebook. Later that same day I got a phone call. This company apparently creates websites for a lot of major companies like: Skechers, Universal Studios, Vogue, Microsoft, Nike, Pepsi, and Neiman Marcus to name just a few. Now they are bringing their website-building prowess to small businesses like mine at a VERY affordable price. And right now, they’ll build the site for free. FREE! And to think, I just ordered a copy of SquareSpace for Dummies. I’ll get an hour of updates each month but I’ll also have console on the backend that lets me add or change content if I want. After a year they’ll even completely rebuild your site for free. There is a 6-month commitment to start and after that, it’s month to month for just $199/mth! That’s totally doable for me as a part-time photographer so this is well within reach of a dental practice! Full disclosure, they do not guarantee SEO, you’ll want to hit up Web.com for that, but the formula they use is best practices for Google’s Search parameters and they change it up regularly to keep up with Google’s changes. One of my favorite features is the Social Wall. This is where things you post to social media show up on your site which, in turn, “updates” your site. Brilliant!
