Using Technology to Help you Keep your Resolutions

As we head into the New Year, I thought it would be nice to talk about one of my favorite productivity applications. The app is called CoachMe and I have found it very helpful to help me stay on track with my goals for the year. This app allows you to choose from many common daily goals that you want to track. Once you have compiled the list, you can check in every day and check off the ones you completed. Here are a few examples:

  • Wake up before 6:30 am
  • Exercise
  • Read for 30-60 minutes
  • Clean for 15 minutes
  • Learn Spanish on Duolingo
  • Stretch or do Yoga

The idea is to create these items as habits. If you check-in to your goals more than 21 times it is now probably a habit for you and you can remove it from the list and add more. Other people can give you “props” for completing goals. If you click on your goal you can see tips from other members on how they worked to achieve their goals. It really is motivational.

The app takes it further with a coaching option where you can hire a personal coach to keep you accountable. I have not tried this option but it may be a good one if you are working on a goal and need an extra push.

Take a look in your app store and see what's out there! I downloaded this app probably 2 years ago so I am sure there are more out there now. The idea is to write your goals down and track your progress so you can have the best 2017 possible!

Cheers!
